Unit Manager for Fuels and Sustainable Fuels

Your Responsibilities – Lead in Supervision, Support, Analysis, and Regulation Development
As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for finances, employees, work environment, and operational issues. You are responsible for leading the continued development of the unit's work, its collective competence, and its ability to address societal challenges in an increasingly complex and changing environment. The operation deals with changing regulations, which requires an active dialogue with operators, industry organizations, and other authorities, as well as with internal support functions.
In this role, you report to the head of the Climate Department. Together with other unit managers and the department head, you are responsible for contributing to and prioritizing from a holistic perspective related to the department's and agency's mission. Qualifications
We are looking for someone with an academic education that the employer deems relevant, such as a civil engineer, economist, lawyer, or natural scientist. You have relevant and current experience in leading and developing successful teams in public operations. You communicate very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and communicate well in English, both in writing and verbally. Additionally, you have good knowledge of modern IT systems and programs.
It is advantageous if you have experience in a managerial role, including personnel, budget, and work environment responsibilities, as well as participation in management teams. Experience in the energy, climate, and/or environmental fields, preferably with supervisory work in operations related to these areas, is also meritorious.

About the Workplace
The Unit for Fuels and Sustainable Fuels is part of the Climate Department, which works on a wide range of issues. From international climate collaborations and the internationalization of Swedish innovations to the management and development of policy instruments in the renewable area and analyses regarding the expansion of fossil-free electricity production.
The Unit for Fuels and Sustainable Fuels works with supervision, regulation development, and policy instruments that contribute to sustainability and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The unit's focus is on biofuels and biodiesel within combined heat and power, heating/cooling, and transportation. We follow up on the reduction obligation that imposes requirements for reduced greenhouse gas emissions from fuels. We investigate and analyze issues and future policy instruments related to sustainability criteria and the societal transition to a sustainable energy system. The unit currently consists of 14 employees.

Good to Know
The position is a permanent employment with an initial six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement. Positions within the Swedish Energy Agency may be placed in a security class, which means security screening and background checks according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act. Employment may also involve military placement within the agency.
